Waterloo is a city located in, and is the county seat of Black Hawk County in the state of Iowa.
Waterloo was first known as Prairie Rapids Crossing.
It was first settled in 1845.
The city is part of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Metropolitan Statistical Area which has a population of 164,220.
As of 2000, the population of the city of Waterloo was 68,747.
